As a first bidder on an item, you can set a top amount you are willing to pay by repeatedly hitting the “OUTBID” button, until you reach the amount you choose not to exceed.

You can see if any bids have been placed, by checking the “BIDS” tab at the bottom of Each Auction item page.

Then, moving forward for the duration of the auction, whenever someone outbids you, up until your chosen amount, your bids will automatically be placed. If someone outbids your top offer, they will win.

Others won’t see your chosen ceiling amount.
